Translated by means of adaptation, the themes of the translated novels in the 1910-1920 Short Story Magazine cover science, love stories and navy. Doubtless, the case study of Lin Xu＇s translation in his late years is one of the effective approaches to reconstructing the characteristics of the short stories translated in Short Story Magazine in the beginning of the twentieth century.
