Objective To explore the relationship between the lntemet addiction (IA) and the academic achievements (AA) among students, so as to provide the evidence for formulating the preventive interventions. Methods A total of 25 710 students aged 13 to 22 years were surveyed with special questionnaires in Liaoning Province. Results In the reported rate of IA, there were no significant differences among the key senior high school students, regular senior high school students and vocational high school students (both female and male students). However, in the reported rate of IA, there were significant differences among different levels of AA (both female and male students). The poorer of AA, the higher of IA. Conclusions IA is related to relative AA (the sequence of AA in class), but not related to absolute AA (the sorts of school divided by AA), which hints the mental pressure plays a significant effect.
