Due to its distinctive features in heritage protection and study, the Australian heritage protection system has been widely accepted. With the assessment of China＇s national heritage list as a example, this paper in-troduces the characteristics of the Australian national heritage evaluation system, such as the procedure of national heritage assessment, criteria of heritage list assessment, and the factors influencing the listing of national heritages in the hope of providing reference for the undergoing heritage protection in China.
