Objective To study how the blood glucose management group affects the hospitalized patients with pathoglycemia not admitted in endocrinology department on their related knowledge of blood glucose management and blood glucose control. Methods The before - after control experimental method was used in the study. The hospitalized patients with pathoglyeemia in other departments except endocrinology who met the inclusive and exclusive criteria were extracted in our hospital on November 10th, 2012 before the establishment of the team and on November 14th, 2013 after the establishment has established for one year. The number of patients before and after was 410 and 520 respectively. The knowledge of blood glucose management they acquired and blood glucose control were compared between them. Results The comparison before and after found that the percentage of patients who had received the health education of blood glucose control increased from 49.4% ( 199/ 403) to 62. 2% (316/508) . The pass rate about blood glucose management knowledge questionnaire increased from 50. 6% (204/403) to 59. 8% (304/508) . The rate of reaching the standard of 2 - hour post - meal blood glucose increased from 16.4% (66/403) to 23.2% (118/508), with significant differences (P 〈 0. 05 ) and that of the fasting plasma glucose (FPG) increased from 27.3% (110/403) to 33.9% ( 172/508 ) but without significant difference ( P 〉 0. 05 ) . Conclusion The blood glucose management group in large comprehensive hospitals can increase patients' knowledge of the blood glucose management and blood glucose control who hospitalize in non - endocrinology departments because of abnormal pathoglycemia.
